CDLU was founded in 2003 and is situated in Sirsa, Haryana. In ten streams, including Management, Engineering, Commerce, Law, Journalism and Mass Communication, Humanities, Social Sciences, Science, and Education, the university provides more than 48 courses. Via the University Center for Distance Learning, the university also provides a range of programs. The 24 departments of CDLU, which include the departments of business administration, physical education, music, biotechnology, chemistry, and more, are responsible for providing instruction.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) awarded Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU) a “B” grade for accreditation. The university is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the University Grant Commission (UGC), and the Bar Council of India (BCI) have all authorized CDLU.

According to directives under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme by the Directors of Higher Education, Haryana, and Technical Education, Haryana, for technical program(s) authorized by AICTE, no fees would be collected from students in the SC category by the university or college.
According to Director General of Higher Education, Haryana, letter No. 3/44-2012 Sch (2) dated June 18, 2013, Panchkula, SC students whose family income from all sources is up to Rs. 2.50 lac annually are eligible for benefits under the scheme. This is the case for the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme of the Government of India for the welfare of SC.
Students from BC who have parents whose annual income from all sources is less than Rs. 2,50,000/-per year are eligible to apply for Post Matric Scholarships as well. They will only receive maintenance allowance.
