A “University of National Importance,” formerly known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), is recognized for its UG and PG programs in the engineering and science fields. In addition to being a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), AKTU is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Institute of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Architecture Lucknow, Centre for Advanced Studies, and UP Institute of Design Noida are now among the university’s four constituent colleges.

In accordance with the rules of the Uttar Pradesh State Scholarship system, the institution provides a variety of scholarships, some of which are reserved for students from minority groups who achieve better than the specified cutoff in their upper secondary exams.
